Job summary

CYGNET is seeking a professional Ward Manager for the Acer Clinic Ward in Derbyshire. The role involves leading a multidisciplinary team, overseeing inpatient care for women with complex mental health needs, and driving recovery-focused practice.

You will monitor nursing practice, support staff development, and ensure adherence to policies and patient rights. A DBS check is required and a thorough understanding of the Mental Health Act is expected.

Qualifications

• Experience in in-patient mental health settings.
• Strong leadership and people management skills.
• Knowledge of safeguarding and patient rights.

Responsibilities

• Provide suggestions, proposals & recommendations to the Hospital Manager aimed at the continued development of the ward.
• Initiate & maintain a monitoring system in relation to professional nursing practice at unit level, including registration checks.
• Advise non-clinical staff within the hospital on management of patients with mental illness.
• Ensure patients’ rights to confidentiality are respected and that policies are adhered to.
• Lead audits and follow-up actions to improve clinical services.

Be a part of it.We are looking for a professional, confident Ward Manager who can lead, inspire & oversee the delivery of the very best care.You’ll be working 40 hours a week (Upper Ward) at Cygnet Acer Clinic.Cygnet Acer Clinic is a 28 bed service providing assessment, treatment and rehabilitation for women with personality disorder and complex needs or acute mental health needs.Upper Ward:Acer Upper is a mental health acute service for women, based at Cygnet Acer Clinic in Derbyshire.The ward provides assessment and treatment for women experiencing a mental health crisis who require an emergency admission.Our team works closely and collaboratively with service users, their families and the referrer to provide a seamless pathway from referral to discharge. Our approach is recovery focused and supported by a comprehensive multidisciplinary team, contributing to shorter lengths of stay.We also benefit from a highly specialised personality disorder service on site, and can offer a pathway for women that may require an extended therapy programme.Your day-to-day…• Provide suggestions, proposals & recommendations to the Hospital Manager aimed at the continued development of the ward• Contribute & participate in planned visits to the ward by professional visitors• Initiate & maintain a monitoring system in relation to professional nursing practice at unit level, including pin numbers & the current registration of all qualified staff• Ensure that the evaluation of service delivery is user (i.e. patient, carer & family) based• Advise non-clinical staff within the hospital on management of patients with mental illness• Ensure patients’ rights to confidentiality are respected & that Cygnet Health Care & professional policies are adhered to.You are…• Committed to delivering improvement strategies across all aspects of clinical service provision• Familiar with an in-patient setting• Experienced in managing change, leadership initiatives, motivating & developing others• Open, compassionate, honest & resilient• Capable of undertaking audits, developing, following-up & ensuring completion of action plans• Well-informed of the Mental Health Act & the latest nursing practices• Focused on patient recovery to monitor, manage & reduce risk.Why Cygnet?
