Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Division of medicine on the Acute Frailty Unit for a dedicated, enthusiastic, highly motivated and experienced nurse to join our dynamic, patient-focussed team, as the permanent Ward Manager
The Acute Frailty Unit includes 25 assessment beds and one SDEC bay. The success candidate will also manage the Older Person Rapid Access Clinic (OPRA) which runs Monday to Friday. The ideal candidate will confidently and supportively lead the team and share our passion for delivering the highest quality care, providing excellent patient experience and will be committed to continuous improvement.
Main duties of the job
The post will be pivotal in providing the clinical expertise required to ensure safe and effective Inpatient care and is of the highest standards. You must be able to demonstrate a good level of enquiry, excellent communication and organisational skills with good knowledge and understanding of clinical governance and current NHS issues.
The main duties of this role include
- Day to day management of the Ward, co-ordinating, allocating and
prioritising the workload so that staff and resources are used efficiently, contributing to the smooth running of the ward
- Training, supervision and appraisal of team
- Ensuring safe staffing levels, producing a safe fair and effective roster and managing sickness and absence in line with the trusts attendance management policy
- Maintain and monitor systems for ensuring staff compliance with mandatory training.
- Collaborate with all members of the wider to ensure efficient running of the ward and safe patient journey
- Have oversight of the ward budget and monitoring and control of expenditure and use of resources.
