Job summary

The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is seeking a Band 2 Housekeeper to join Ward 38 at Royal Shrewsbury Hospital in Shrewsbury. The role covers stock management, basic ward support, and ensuring a clean, safe environment for patients and staff.

The successful candidate will have NHS experience and basic IT/computer skills, with duties including ordering consumables and assisting with patient and equipment transfer in a busy ward setting.

Qualifications

• Worked to an educational standard that demonstrates an understanding of literacy and numeracy.
• GCSEs Maths and English at grades 9-1 or equivalent qualifications or experience

Responsibilities

• To be responsible for ensuring adequate stocks of consumables are maintained to meet service requirements and that all equipment within the department is clean and in good working order.
• To assist in the transfer of patients and equipment.
• The post holder will provide non-clinical support to the ward team carrying out tasks assigned to the individual under the supervision of nurses.
• The essence of the role is to assist in maintaining as safe and clean working environment for patients and staff, to support the nutritional needs of patients by supporting the ordering and delivery of catering supplies and meals, and to ensure that stocks and supplies are kept at adequate levels within the ward environment.
