Job summary

Nuffield Health The Manor Hospital in Oxford is seeking a Ward Host/Hostess to provide compassionate meal service to patients, staff and visitors. You will help deliver comfort with a smile while adhering to safety standards.

The role includes preparing meals, following dietary requirements, and supporting the ward team in a fast-paced hospital setting. Sodexo provides benefits and training opportunities.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a similar role or willingness to learn.
• Positive, reliable and caring approach to patient service.

Responsibilities

• Deliver a friendly, high-quality meal service to patients, ensuring dignity and care.
• Prepare, assemble and serve patient meals including special dietary needs.
• Maintain food safety, hygiene and infection control per policies.
• Complete temperature checks, quality records and required documentation.
• Keep ward kitchens, equipment and work areas clean and stocked.
• Support stock rotation, waste reduction and safe transport of trolleys.
• Work as part of a team, following instructions and aiding catering duties.

• Shift Pattern: 5 days out of 7, including weekends
• Shift Times: as per rota, example of shifts: 7 am - 2:30 pm / 11 am - 7 pm / 1 am - 9 pm
• Free meal on shift / Uniform provided
• Permanent contract

What You'll Do:

• Deliver a friendly, high-quality meal service to patients, ensuring dignity, care and excellent customer service.
• Prepare, assemble and serve patient meals accurately, including special dietary requirements.
• Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and infection prevention in line with hospital and company policies.
• Complete food temperature checks, quality records and other required documentation accurately.
• Keep ward kitchens, catering equipment and work areas clean, safe and well stocked.
• Support stock rotation, waste reduction and the safe transportation of food trolleys.
• Work as part of a team, following instructions and helping with other catering duties as required

What You Bring:

• Previous experience in a similar role or willingness to learn
• A positive, reliable and caring approach, with a genuine desire to provide excellent service to patients.
• Good communication and listening skills, with the ability to work well as part of a team.
• The ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately and work efficiently.
• A commitment to maintaining high standards of food safety, hygiene and cleanliness.
• Good timekeeping, reliability and a flexible approach to supporting the team.
• A willingness to learn and complete required training, including maintaining mandatory standards.
• A Food Safety Level 2 certificate (or equivalent), or a willingness to achieve this.
