Job summary

The Alexandra Hospital, part of Circle Health Group, is recruiting a Healthcare Assistant to join the wards. This full-time role offers 37.5 hours per week with a salary up to £26,500 depending on experience, training and qualifications.

You will support patients with daily tasks, monitor vital signs and assist with basic clinical procedures. Applicants should have prior care experience, strong communication skills and a compassionate approach.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a care or health support role.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to follow instructions and escalate concerns.
• Basic literacy, numeracy and IT skills.
• Physically able to undertake duties including moving and handling tasks.
• NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent) desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with personal hygiene, washing, dressing, toileting, oral care, and mobility needs.
• Help patients with eating, drinking, and nutritional support, including documenting intake where appropriate.
• Provide comfort and emotional support to patients and relatives.
• Carry out and record routine observations such as blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate, temperature, oxygen saturation, and blood glucose levels (after training).
• Support basic clinical procedures, including wound care setup, catheter care, pressure area prevention, and mobility aids.
• Prepare and maintain clinical areas, including trolleys, beds, and equipment.
• Work with nurses, doctors, therapists and admin teams to support safe patient care.
