Job summary

Circle Health Group's Bath Clinic is seeking a Healthcare Assistant to join our ward team. This full-time role offers 37.5 hours per week with a flexible shift pattern and a salary up to £28,576 depending on experience and qualifications.

You will support patients with personal care, nutrition, mobility, and vital observations, working closely with nurses and clinicians to ensure safe, compassionate care. Prior care experience and good communication are required, with training provided.

Qualifications

• Experience in care or health support role preferred.
• Good interpersonal skills and caring attitude.
• Basic literacy, numeracy and IT skills.
• Knowledge of safeguarding and infection control.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with personal care, washing, dressing, toileting and mobility needs.
• Help patients with eating, drinking and nutritional support, documenting intake as appropriate.
• Provide comfort and emotional support to patients and relatives.
• Record routine observations (BP, pulse, resp rate, temp, SpO2, glucose) after training.
• Support basic clinical procedures (wound care setup, catheter care, pressure area prevention).
• Prepare and maintain clinical areas and equipment for patient use.
• Collaborate with nurses, doctors, therapists and admin teams to support safe patient care.

This is a full time role for 37.5 hours a week. The role holder will be required to cover a flexible shift pattern.

Duties Of This Role Include

• Assist patients with personal hygiene, washing, dressing, toileting, oral care, and mobility needs, respecting their preferences and dignity.
• Help patients with eating, drinking, and nutritional support, including documenting intake where appropriate.
• Provide comfort and emotional support to patients and relatives, creating a caring and safe environment.
• Carry out and accurately record routine observations such as blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate, temperature, oxygen saturation, and blood glucose levels (after appropriate training).
• Support basic clinical procedures, including wound care setup, assisting with catheter care, pressure area prevention, and mobility aids.
• Prepare and maintain clinical areas, including trolleys, beds, and equipment in readiness for patient use.
• Work collaboratively with nurses, doctors, therapists, and admin teams to support safe and efficient patient care

Applicants Should Meet The Following Criteria

• Previous experience in a care or health support role (hospital, care home, community, or domiciliary).
• Good communication and interpersonal skills with a caring, compassionate attitude.
• Ability to follow instructions and escalagate concerns appropriately.
• Basic literacy, numeracy, and IT skills.
• Physically able to undertake duties including moving and handling tasks.
• NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent qualification) desirable.
• Knowledge of safeguarding, infection control, and confidentiality procedures.
