Job Introduction
As a Ward Catering Assistant with Sodexo at Nuffield Health Exeter Hospital, you'll play an important role in delivering delicious meals and a positive experience to patients, staff, and visitors. Your cheerful attitude and friendly interactions can brighten someone's day and bring comfort during challenging times.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, portion and deliver meals and refreshments to patients safely and efficiently.
- Support patients, visitors and colleagues by providing a friendly, professional and person-centred service.
- Maintain high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and infection prevention throughout your shift.
- Check, rotate and store stock correctly, ensuring food safety standards and expiry date procedures are followed.
- Assist with basic food preparation and the safe operation of catering equipment.
- Follow all health and safety procedures, including manual handling and safe working practices in temperature‑controlled environments.
- Work flexibly across catering areas to support the team and help deliver an excellent service.
Qualifications
- A caring, positive approach and a genuine commitment to delivering excellent service to patients.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a supportive team.
- The ability to stay organised and work calmly in a busy healthcare environment.
- A strong understanding of the importance of food hygiene, cleanliness and infection prevention.
- Experience in catering, hospitality or healthcare is desirable, but not essential, as full training will be provided.
- A willingness to learn, follow procedures and adapt to changing priorities.
- Reliability, attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and quality.
