Job summary

Sodexo, at Nuffield Health Wessex Hospital in Eastleigh, is seeking a Ward Assistant to deliver meals and provide a comforting patient experience. You’ll serve meals, support staff and visitors, and help maintain hygiene and safety standards.

Shift patterns include 5 days out of 7 with 30 hours per week, mornings or afternoons, and uniform is provided along with free on-site parking. Join a friendly team and contribute to high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

• A positive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop new skills.
• Good timekeeping, reliability, and a commitment to regular attendance.
• Ability to follow instructions and work efficiently in a busy environment.
• Good communication and listening skills, with a patient-focused approach.
• Understanding of the importance of food hygiene, safety, and cleanliness (training provided).
• Flexible and supportive approach, with the ability to work as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve patient meals safely, accurately, and on time.
• Assemble meal trays, including special diets, ensuring each patient receives the correct meal.
• Maintain high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness, and infection prevention across kitchens and ward areas.
• Carry out food temperature checks, stock rotation, and complete required quality and safety records.
• Wash crockery, cutlery, and kitchen equipment using dishwashing equipment and keep work areas clean and organised.
• Transport food trolleys safely and provide general support across the catering department as needed.
