Job summary

2gether Support Solutions is recruiting a Ward Catering Assistant to support hospital wards at Kent and Canterbury Hospital. This part-time, permanent role covers weekend shifts from 7am to 8pm, with a 1-hour break.

The post supports patient meals, cleanliness and general ward catering duties under the Facilities unit. The role emphasises high standards of hygiene, patient care and efficient service, with additional benefits including annual leave, pension and travel discounts.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills and strong customer service abilities are essential.
• Motivation and positive attitude are important for front-line NHS catering roles.
• Experience in customer service or catering would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Carry out housekeeping duties, cleaning, catering and patient services.
• Respond promptly to patient requests and needs regarding catering and housekeeping services.
• Comply with infection control policies, COSHH, Health and Safety and other statutory legislation.
• Take patients’ meal orders, prepare and distribute meals and beverages to patients according to dietary requirements.
• Clean and sanitise patient rooms, bathrooms, and common areas to high standards.
• Ensure cleanliness and proper storage of catering equipment and utensils.
• Assist in managing food stock, including receiving deliveries and maintaining inventory.

The Role

We are looking for a part time, permanent Ward Catering Assistant. This is a part time, permanent position working Saturday and Sunday 7am - 8pm, 1 hour break..Ward Catering Assistants are the lifeblood of the NHS and an integral part of the team, providing high levels of patient service, cleaning, and catering support within clinical areas. Previous customer service or catering experience would be an advantage.

You will provide essential support in maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of the hospital wards and delivering high-quality catering services to patients, ensuring a comfortable and safe environment.

The Person

The role requires excellent communication skills, motivation and strong customer service skills. If you have experience in Food Preparation and customer service this would be an advantage. The role has a real impact on the patient experience and focuses on providing exemplary services.
