Job summary

WalesOnline, part of Reach, is seeking a reporter to explore stories that matter to people in Wales. You’ll write engaging articles with strong visuals and multi‑media content, and you’ll be comfortable hosting live Q&As and creating newsletters.

We welcome candidates with different levels of experience, from senior reporters to those starting their newsroom careers, and you’ll work from our Cardiff hub on a flexible basis within Wales.

Qualifications

• Experienced journalist with NCTJ or equivalent qualification and media law knowledge.
• Trainee candidates with NCTJ preliminary or equivalent.
• Ability to meet people face to face; driving licence optional.

Responsibilities

• Write and develop stories about local communities with great pictures and engaging videos, also create maps and graphics, host live Q&As, author newsletters, and develop interactive content formats.
• Ensure every piece of content is researched and published in accordance with the Editor's Code of practice.
• Identify breaking news quickly using social media.
• Role open to both junior and senior candidates; flexible working arrangements and Cardiff hub-based role.
