Job summary

Yolk Recruitment is supporting a Welsh media business in its search for an ambitious Editor to take ownership of editorial output across Welsh business, sport, people and communities.

This hands-on editorial role requires outstanding writing, interviewing and storytelling, with the ability to commission, edit and develop contributors for digital, magazine, podcast and social media formats.

Qualifications

• Proven experience within journalism, editing, publishing, content creation or a related media environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong interviewing and storytelling abilities.
• Excellent editorial judgement and a meticulous eye for detail.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Proactive and creative approach to finding stories and developing content.

Responsibilities

• Researching and developing newsworthy stories related to the Welsh business community.
• Conducting interviews, attending events and building relationships with industry contacts.
• Leading editorial planning meetings and managing editorial calendars.
• Writing, editing and proofreading high-quality articles, news stories and magazine content.
• Producing approximately 5-7 articles per day and contributing to the daily newsletter.
• Overseeing quarterly magazine content, coordinating with designers and meeting commercial requirements.
• Creating social media content, short-form video and influencer-style material.
• Developing podcasts, roundtables and live events, and interviewing senior business leaders.
• Collaborating with Marketing, Sales, Design and Production to maximise exposure and opportunities.
• Creating advertorial and paid-for content with clients and maintaining relationships.
• Monitoring audience engagement and using insights to improve readership and viewership.
• Mentoring junior journalists and interns, providing constructive feedback.
• Working with the web development team to keep the site engaging and accessible.
• Representing the organisation at networking events and industry activities.
• Ensuring published information is accurate and verified through fact-checking.
