Job summary

CareTech is looking for dedicated staff to join the Westpark Road service in Smethwick. This permanent, full-time role covers a 35-hour week on a rota basis, with shifts including evenings, weekends and sleep-ins to support residents with complex needs.

We value person-centred care, independence and wellbeing, and offer training, DBS coverage, career progression and a supportive team environment within a residential setting opposite a local park.

Qualifications

• Willingness to work towards NVQ Level 2
• Enhanced DBS required (paid for by CareTech)
• Ability to work unsociable hours on a rota basis

Responsibilities

• Deliver person-centred support in line with individual support plans
• Assist with daily living skills and personal care where required
• Promote independence, dignity, and wellbeing
• Support activities, appointments, and community access
• Maintain accurate records and work effectively as part of a team
• Work a rota including evenings, weekends, bank holidays, and sleep-ins

Job description

About the Service – Westpark Road

West Park Road is a residential service made up of 14 self-contained flats. In addition to this, the people living at the service also have access to a communal lounge and kitchen. The property itself is situated directly opposite a large park and is set back from the road with a private car park and garden to the rear. West Park Road is part of a residential area of Smethwick; it is within easy reach of West Bromwich and Birmingham centres and is directly opposite a large park. It has access to local amenities such as bowling, cinema, gym, shopping, and restaurants. The staff team here is experienced and knows the needs of the people they support well.

Service User Interests

• Arts and crafts
• Days out such as Theme Parks, Meals out, Social activities, Christmas markets etc.
• Holidays and short breaks
• Walks in the local park and community
• Cooking and baking to develop life skills

The Role

We’re seeking people who are caring, patient, and respectful, with a positive and resilient approach. You should be confident working independently and within a team, have good communication skills, basic IT and written abilities, and be flexible and reliable.
