Job summary

Compass Children’s Homes in Cottingham is seeking a dedicated Waking Night Support Worker for a residential Family Assessment Centre. You will join a multi-disciplinary team, support Parent & Child placements, monitor safety and CCTV during the night.

A DBS check and strong safeguarding commitment are essential; shifts run 10pm–8am across seven days on a rolling pattern, with flexibility to cover as required.

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years’ experience in Children’s Residential, Early Years or Children’s Social Care setting.
  • Good safeguarding knowledge and experience with complex families.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in complex or challenging situations with families.

We are looking for Waking Night Parent and Child Support Workers for a Residential Family Assessment Centre for a 5-bedroom assessment unit in Cottingham. This will be a busy and challenging role and therefore you will have commitment and dedication to providing high quality support to family and staff in line with OFSTED regulations. You will also be required to have excellent safeguarding standards and a strong ethos of providing effective support to families to achieve positive outcomes.

As a Waking Night Support Worker, you will work within a multi-disciplinary team to provide support to Parent & Child placements in a residential setting. This is a highly trusted role that will require sensitivity and excellent safeguarding awareness, to provide support to Parent & Child placements on a waking duty, monitoring the safety of families and CCTV throughout the night.

The role will be for 40 hours across 7 days per week on a rolling shift pattern. Each shift running from 10pm – 8am. There is an expectation of flexibility to provide shift cover as required.

Essential Skills, Knowledge, and Requirements:
  • At last 2 years’ experience of working in a Children’s Residential, Early Years or Children’s Social Care setting.
  • Good knowledge and experience ofsafeguarding and working with complex families.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in complex or challenging situations with families.
Preferable Skills and Knowledge:
  • Experience ofpartnership working with families and external agencies, preferably in aSafeguarding or Looked after Children’s Teams.
  • Level 3 – Health & Social Care (Child/Young People or Parent & Child) -may be completed whilst in post.
