Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced vulnerability researcher to join a UK-based cyber security team in Salisbury. The role focuses on in-depth analysis of Android/Linux internals, reverse engineering, and developing cutting-edge research tools.

You will audit C/C++ sources, produce PoCs in multiple languages, and collaborate with vulnerability researchers and software engineers. A strong security mindset and willingness to share knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in vulnerability research and bug hunting.
• Background in ethical hacking or reverse engineering.
• Familiarity with IDA Pro or Ghidra for analysis.
• Knowledge of ARM, AARCH64, x86/x64, or MIPS architectures.
• Understanding of exploitation techniques and mitigations.

Job description

• Develop a deep understanding of how Android mobile devices work, from applications to kernel
• Reverse engineer proprietary binaries using ARM, ARM64 and MIPS knowledge
• Audit C and C++ source code to identify security flaws
• Develop novel tools and techniques for cutting-edge vulnerability research
• Work with vulnerability researchers and software engineers
• Design and produce niche solutions with immediate real-world impact
• Deliver bespoke products and research for cyber security clients in the UK
• Produce proof of concepts in C, C++, Python or assembly code
• Participate in technical interviews and assessments as part of the hiring process

Requirements

• Experienced vulnerability researcher
• Bug hunting, ethical hacking or reverse engineering background
• Reverse engineering in IDA Pro or Ghidra
• Familiarity with one or more of ARM, AARCH64, x86, x64 and MIPS
• Knowledge of bug hunting and vulnerability research
• Ethical hacking, including familiarity with web/network technologies
• Knowledge of exploitation techniques and mitigations
• Experience and knowledge of Linux and its internals
• Experience and knowledge of Android or iOS and its internals
• Good understanding of C or C++
• Skills and experience in several listed areas
• Ability to lead technical projects
• Passion for cyber security and interest in recent vulnerabilities
• Willingness to share knowledge and work with team members
• Must be a British Citizen and willing to undergo extensive background checks to obtain security clearance
