Job summary

SMBC Group in the UK seeks a Vice President for the Technology, Operations and Procurement Legal team within Corporate Legal to lead complex ICT, outsourcing and AI‑related contracting across the EMEA region.

The role focuses on managing legal risk in third‑party and intra‑group arrangements, developing standards, policies and templates, and delivering pragmatic, risk‑based legal advice in coordination with TPM, Procurement and business stakeholders. Hybrid working is supported.

Qualifications

• Qualified lawyer with 5–8 years post‑qualification experience negotiating ICT contracts and technology‑related legal work.
• Experience in commercial law, data protection, outsourcing and AI regulation is required.
• Experience working with cross‑border contracts and global legal teams is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of TOP contracts (ICT services, outsourcing, SaaS, intra‑group).
• Advise TPM, Procurement and business stakeholders on legal and regulatory risk (outsourcing, resilience, AI).
• Assess applicability of regulatory frameworks (DORA, EU AI Act) and escalate material risks.
• Lead or support negotiations on complex vendor arrangements and outsourcing.
• Develop and maintain standard templates, playbooks and guidance for contract review processes.
• Provide training to TPM, Procurement and business stakeholders.
• Monitor regulatory developments and advise on implementation within SMBC.
• Support dispute management and provide risk‑based recommendations.
• Collaborate with regional and global Legal teams on initiatives.
