Job summary

State Street is seeking a Senior Quantitative Researcher in London to join the Systematic Equity team. You will lead research projects, develop alpha signals, and advance portfolio construction using AI and machine learning techniques.

You will collaborate with portfolio managers and researchers, mentor junior staff, and help evolve our research and production platform to deliver scalable investment solutions for global clients.

Qualifications

• PhD in a quantitative field preferred.
• Demonstrated experience in quantitative research and systematic investing.
• Deep knowledge of quantitative equity investing, alpha research, factor modelling, portfolio construction, and risk management.
• Strong programming in Python and SQL; distributed computing experience is a plus.
• Proven ability to lead independent research and translate findings into practical investment applications.
• Strong communication skills with portfolio managers, researchers, and technology teams.

Responsibilities

• Generate ideas for investment process innovation and improvements, focusing on alpha generation and portfolio construction.
• Lead and execute research projects from idea generation through testing, implementation, and performance evaluation.
• Apply machine learning and AI to enhance research, data analysis, alpha generation, portfolio construction, and risk management.
• Collaborate with portfolio managers to improve existing strategies and develop new capabilities.
• Maintain and evolve the research and production platform, ensuring scalability.
• Present research findings clearly to portfolio managers, researchers, senior management, clients and prospects.
• Mentor junior researchers and foster a collaborative, high-performing culture.
