Job summary

Goldman Sachs is seeking a Global Banking Markets Software Engineer for the Equities Data Platform Engineering team in London. You will lead the architecture and delivery of a core system, driving it through the full product lifecycle from requirements to deployment and support.

As a senior contributor, you will mentor engineers, shape technical direction, and own critical infrastructure for real-time analytics in a cloud-native, AI-first stack.

Qualifications

• Around 5–10 years of professional experience building high-performance, low-latency systems (sub-second) at VP level.
• Proven ability to drive complex, industrial-scale development independently and mentor engineers.
• Thorough knowledge of Java programming concepts (and Python a plus).
• Strong grounding in object-oriented programming, data structures, algorithms, and design patterns.
• Experience with distributed stream-processing systems handling large-scale data in near real time.
• Hands-on exposure to systems like HDFS/S3, Snowflake, SingleStore, Kafka, Flink, and Java/Scala (Python optional).
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and engineers.
• Demonstrable experience mentoring engineers and setting technical standards.

Responsibilities

• Act as a technical lead on the rebuild of the Electronic Trading data infrastructure into a cloud-native, AI-first platform.
• Design, build, and maintain a high-performance, high-availability data platform for near real-time data processing.
• Develop reliable data ingestion pipelines for large-volume data from trading and market data systems.
• Design distributed computation infrastructure for parallelized queries across large datasets.
• Build an AI-powered UI/agent framework to deliver analytics and insights.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to shape feature requests and roadmap priorities.
• Provide technical direction and mentorship across the team.
