Job summary

Morgan Stanley in London seeks a Lead Software Engineer (VP level) to develop and maintain Exchange Connectivity tools, enabling access to exchanges, brokers and liquidity sources for securitized trading. The role focuses on high-performance, low-latency systems within a global development team.

You will drive modernization, coordinate with product leads, and oversee the full lifecycle from requirements to deployment, including certification and production operations.

Qualifications

• At least 6 years of relevant experience in software engineering for low-latency systems.
• Strong C++ expertise paired with AI/ML applications.
• Experience in Unix/Linux environments.
• Proven ability with distributed, service-based architectures.
• Deep understanding of OO principles, design patterns and threading.
• Advanced expertise in low-latency engineering required.
• Subject matter expertise in exchange-specific protocols, certification and production ops.

Responsibilities

• Develop order routers as part of a global development team, modernizing the Exchange Connectivity platform.
• Collaborate with product leads across technology to identify improvements.
• Lead lifecycle from requirements to deployment and ongoing support.
• Develop for new markets or exchange-driven upgrades as needed.
• Enhance existing systems to meet new requirements and apply break-fixes.
• Design/develop products to add value to services provided by the team.
• Perform exchange certification, regression testing, and deploy applications (occasional weekend work with days off in lieu).
• Serve as L3 support when required.
