Explore your future career

Reporting directly to our CTO, you will lead our Enterprise & Freelance Management System (FMS) engineering organization across London, Paris, and Lyon. You will manage engineering managers and staff engineers to position Malt as the global system of record for enterprise freelance workforces. Your scope spans account deployment, B2B integrations, compliance by design, the Vault, public sector expansion, and agent-to-agent AI explorations. Working alongside Product and Design, you will turn strategic commercial ambition into a scalable platform, roadmap, and world-class engineering team.

Key responsibilities
  • Build and lead a high-performing Enterprise engineering organisation, structuring teams while mentoring Engineering Managers and Staff Engineers.
  • Co‑own the Enterprise & FMS vision with Product and Design, driving outcomes like faster time‑to‑deploy, higher platform adoption, and international expansion.
  • Architect and scale an API‑first integrations platform, enabling seamless connections with procurement, P2P, VMS, ERP, and HRIS systems alongside agent‑to‑agent (A2A/MCP) explorations.
  • Embed compliance by design across all markets, building worker classification safeguards, secure vaults, and custom contract capabilities directly into the product.
  • Act as the executive engineering voice in client face‑offs, joining strategic sales deals, security reviews, and C‑level conversations with CTOs, CIOs, and Procurement leaders.
  • Modernize back‑office tools and operational workflows using AI and automation to lower our cost‑to‑serve and empower internal teams.
  • Raise the bar on engineering excellence, ensuring enterprise‑grade reliability, security, delivery performance, and championing an AI‑native engineering culture.
About you
  • 10+ years of software engineering leadership experience in Enterprise B2B SaaS, with a proven track record of managing leaders (Engineering Managers, Staff Engineers) and building organizations at scale.
  • Extensive software engineering leadership experience within fast‑paced, high‑growth scale‑up environments.
  • Strong product and commercial acumen focused on real business outcomes. You bring a product‑oriented mindset, excelling at making and explaining trade‑offs between bespoke enterprise requests and scalable platform leverage.
  • Proven track record in international leadership, building high‑trust, cohesive, and inclusive engineering cultures across distributed European hubs (such as London, Paris, and Lyon).
  • Deep architectural judgement in multi‑tenancy, API‑first integration patterns, and compliance‑driven product design within complex B2B SaaS or marketplace platforms.
  • Excellent professional fluency in English, with the communication clarity and technical stature to engage credibly with enterprise decision‑makers (CTOs, CIOs, CISOs, Procurement heads) and win complex RFPs.
  • Forward‑thinking leadership in driving AI transformation, guiding exploratory bets (e.g., agentic workflows), and fostering an innovative, AI‑native team culture.
Benefits
  • - Onboarding: Before easing into your new role, you’ll spend your first week learning about our culture, products, and services with other new joiners at our office in Paris
  • - Equity: Every Malter is entitled to stock options
  • - Malt sabbatical: Every three years, all Malters are entitled to a one month fully paid sabbatical leave
  • - Free books: If you’re interested in learning more about any topic relevant to Malt’s business, just tell us the books you’d like to read, and we’ll order them for you—without any questions asked or approval processes to follow
