Job Description

Exciting opportunity for a VP / Director Shipping Transaction Management to join a leading European Corporate & Investment Bank in London.

Our client has an exciting opportunity to join their Transaction Management (TM) team as a Vice President or Junior Director. This mid-level lending professional role is within the front office.

As a player-coach, you will be primarily responsible for key processes related to lending transactions and guiding junior bankers in executing new lending transactions. You will collaborate closely with client relationship managers and sector experts to originate new lending transactions.

The role is fast-paced and multifaceted. While you will focus on one core sector (preferably Shipping), you will also work with other sectors. The position involves interaction with clients, prospects, other banks, technical and legal advisors, and frequent cooperation with internal departments such as Credit Risk Management, Legal, and Deal Execution.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Preparing and efficiently processing credit approval packages.
  • Financial modeling with sensitivity analysis and validation of key assumptions.
  • Running internal models, including risk ratings and loan pricing, and interfacing with risk management on risk appetite.
  • Managing the internal and external deal execution process.
  • Preparing marketing materials.
  • Involvement in term sheet negotiations and other legal documentation.
  • Analysing different transaction structures and providing recommendations.
  • Reviewing due diligence.
  • Conducting comparative analysis of debt structures, performance metrics, and debt pricing.
  • Working with and coaching junior colleagues, supporting their personal and professional development.

The Successful Applicant

Candidate Profile:

Qualification/Education:

  • University degree in finance, economics, accounting, management, engineering, or a related field.

Experience/Knowledge:

  • Relevant banking experience at a leading financial institution.
  • Experience with both corporate and project finance loan origination and execution.
  • Understanding of debt capital markets.
  • Strong credit skills, including the ability to build financial models.
  • Experience in negotiating loan documentation.
