Job summary

Funding Circle in London is seeking a VP Data to lead our enterprise data strategy and transform how data powers our AI-native ambitions. You will oversee Data Engineering, Data Platform, and Data Product Management to deliver a scalable data foundation.

Reporting to the CTO, you will shape data standards, drive modernization, and build senior-level partnerships to turn data into valued business outcomes across functions.

Qualifications

• Create a compelling vision for data and engage across domains to secure support for that vision, driving innovation and culture change.
• Demonstrated success directing multi-disciplinary data functions (engineering, platform, product) in scaled businesses and leading from day one.
• Expertise in modern cloud data stacks, platform architecture, and modernising legacy infrastructures (specifically AWS and Snowflake environments).
• Strong background in developing and executing enterprise data strategies, leading large-scale modernisation initiatives, and establishing governance frameworks.
• Able to translate technical concepts into clear, commercial language for diverse stakeholders across technical and business areas.
• Experience in credit, lending, or regulated financial environments where data impacts risk, underwriting, and operations is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Report to the CTO and lead a team across Data Engineering, Data Platform, and Data Product Management.
• Shape and deliver the next phase of data modernisation to support AI-native ambitions.
• Lead data transformation initiatives and implement Snowflake to power organisation-wide scaling.
• Implement and align Funding Circle's group-wide Data Strategy with broader Group and Technology Strategy.
• Establish reliable data standards and governance practices for long-term data integrity.
• Build strong relationships with Senior and Executive stakeholders to translate data plans into business value.
