Job summary

Teneo is seeking a Vice President of Public Relations in our San Francisco Bay Area office. You will lead client work with a senior team and drive innovative, AI-enhanced communications strategies across media channels.

The role requires entrepreneurial drive, strong media relationships, and a track record of delivering high‑impact campaigns. You will mentor junior staff, shape how the team uses AI tools, and contribute to business growth through strategic proposals and pitches.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in public relations, corporate communications, or media.
• Strong track record of managing client relationships.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to see complex projects through to execution.
• Knowledge of the media landscape and experience with press or reporter relationships.
• Experience with issues and crisis management, or complex mandates.
• Understanding of business and financial markets.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; PowerPoint skills are a must.
• Hands-on use of AI tools with enthusiasm for applying them.
• Familiarity with social media platforms and media monitoring tools such as Factiva.
• Ability to work in complex environments.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
• Experience in technology, media, or fintech, startup exposure preferred.
• Experience building or improving a process, program, or tool preferred.

Responsibilities

• Be a key member of the core account team, working with Account Managers and leaders on client mandates.
• Manage day‑to‑day account work and the production of deliverables such as strategic plans, press releases, talking points, Q&A documents, and briefing memos.
• Support clients through moments of transition and help translate their strategy into clear, practical communications plans.
• Engage with media, including pitching stories and meeting reporters, and keep up with trends across paid, owned, and earned channels and across old and new media, including podcasts, newsletters, and creator platforms.
• Use your network of media and stakeholder relationships to serve clients and bring opportunities to the firm.
• Use AI tools to work faster and better, and help build and test new tools and workflows with Teneo's firmwide AI team.
• Mentor junior team members and keep client teams on track.
• Serve as a reliable, adaptable resource for senior team members.
• Contribute to business development, including proposals and pitches.
• Help build Teneo's presence in the Bay Area.
