Job summary

South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue is seeking a proactive Volunteer Coordinator in Rotherham to lead and develop our volunteer programme. The role covers recruitment, induction, training and ongoing support, with agile/hybrid working and local travel across South Yorkshire.

You will build partnerships with communities and organisations, promote volunteering, ensure safeguarding, and recognise volunteers through development opportunities and policy alignment.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with local communities and engaging with people from vulnerable groups.
• Excellent communication, organisation and relationship-building skills.
• Enthusiastic, organised and people-focused with a passion for community engagement.

Responsibilities

• Coordinating recruitment, induction, training and ongoing support of volunteers.
• Acting as the main point of contact for volunteers and prospective volunteers.
• Developing and promoting new volunteering opportunities aligned to organisational priorities.
• Monitoring, evaluating and reporting on volunteer activities and programme performance.
• Ensuring all volunteer activities operate in line with safeguarding, EDI and organisational policies.
• Developing and reviewing volunteering policies, procedures and quality standards.
• Building strong relationships with internal teams, community organisations and external partners.
• Delivering presentations and promoting volunteering opportunities across South Yorkshire.
