Veggies to Table is a non-profit 501c3 grow-to-donate organic diversified fruit, veggie and flower farm. Everything we grow we donate to those in need of food and joy in our community.We partner with 35+ local pantries, schools, summer lunch, and educational programs to bring our nutrient dense, and produce to community members experiencing hunger.We have welcomed hundreds of volunteers to the farm and work to create deep community connections on the farm and beyond.

We are committed to restoring dignity to individuals and families who have lost control over that most basic of choices and decisions—what to eat. The goal? Universal access to nutritious and culturally appropriate food for everyone.

VOLUNTEER MANAGER/FARMER/EDUCATOR

Veggies to Table seeks a passionate and energetic Volunteer Manager and farmer to work in conjunction with our farm manager, crew, local volunteers, interns, and WWOOFers of all ages. We are in search of someone committed to non-profit work, our mission to feed those living with hunger and to provide joy with flowers, and organic, no-till, no-spray farming. We seek someone who is excited to work on our 1.3 acres of diversified vegetables, fruit, flowers, herbs, and a small orchard.

Our ideal candidate is an extrovert who loves teaching and conversing with people of all ages and abilities with experience in organic no-till practices. We desire a candidate who is excited to build not only our farm, but community connections. They love people and sharing their love of fresh nutritious produce and joyful flowers.

THE JOB:

70% Farm work both alongside crew and leading volunteers (Local of all ages, school groups, corporate groups, interns, WWOOFers and Workaway).

30% Volunteer admin work including communications farm orientation and tours for local volunteers, Interns, Wwoofers and Workaway. This work will include being the point of contact prior to arrival and during stays on the farm to make sure everything runs smoothly and everyone’s needs are met.

Future work may include (but not be limited to):

· Education program development in conjunction with the Veggies to Table Board of Directors, our Education Committee, Executive Director and Farm Manager, and Team

· Developing and conducting workshops and classes

· Working and collaborating with our local partners to better serve our community and create deeper connections

Additional winter work may include participation in fundraising, and administrative tasks which could include SOPs, handbook development and revisions, volunteer hour log creation and hour calculations and more

● Weekly schedule in season (Mid-March- November) Tuesday-Saturday (with some variation based on need).

● Weekly schedule Dec-mid-March Monday – Friday

● Volunteer Manager will work closely with the Farm Manager to organize, and manage volunteers.

● Serve as a liaison between local volunteers, Interns, WWOOFers and Workaways and the farm. Communication prior to arrval, first point of contact upon arrival, farm and property tour, including communication of schedules, expectations, living arrangements and life on the farm, and point of contact for questions/concerns. Liaison b/w volunteers and Farm Manager, Executive Director, and Property Owners

● Participate in and lead volunteers in all field work including seeding, planting, cultivation, maintenance, harvest, wash and pack, and more

● Participate in and lead volunteers in behind the scenes work such as seed sorting, letter writing, dahlia sales, tabling, events and more

There is always a lot to do on the farm. Being able to multi-task, see the big picture and transition between different tasks easily is important. Having vision and common sense to deal with whatever comes along in a calm manner is key. We believe in solution finding here on the farm. We work hard and with enthusiasm. We adore what we do and want you to adore it as much as we do. Being around a crew of equally enthused lovers of food and flowers ready to be a part of providing dignity and choice to everyone in our community invigorates us.

ELIGIBILITY:

● 3+ years of organic farming, ideally no-till experience.

● Experience and knowledge of soil health, cover crops, fruit, vegetable, flower, and herb production from seed to table/bouquet

● 2+ years managing volunteers of all ages and abilities

● Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather, under potentially strenuous conditions — heat, rain, sun, wind, and cold—preparedness and positive attitude are essential for success.

● Demonstrated interpersonal skills. There is a mix of local volunteers, WWOOFers, students, and interns on the farm daily.

● Demonstrated skills in public speaking

DESIRED QUALITIES:

● Leadership, decisive, organized, responsible, and reliable

● A detail-oriented approach, with considerable attention to order and cleanliness

● An ongoing commitment to improving systems and practices

● Desire to continue to learn and grow as a person and farmer.
