At The ExtraCare Charitable Trust, our objective is clear, to create better lives for older people.

To help us achieve our mission, we are seeking a Volunteer Coordinator to become a part of our team at Stoke Gifford Retirement Village in Bristol. You will be welcomed into a close-knit and friendly team, receiving comprehensive support from both our residents and staff.

Role Details: -

  • Role: Volunteer Coordinator
  • Hours: 16 hours per week
  • Contract: Permanent
  • Location: Stoke Gifford Retirement Village, Edward Parker Road, Bristol, BS16 1YG
  • Salary: £11,487.90 (FTE £26,924.76)

What will you do as our Volunteer Coordinator?

  • Advise on the implementation of the Volunteering Strategy and Policy
  • Help Villages create and implement Recruitment, Retention and Recognition plans
  • Support ExtraCare Shops Ltd as appropriate in relation to volunteering.
  • Maintain the Volunteering Action Plan and achievement of such
  • Identify training needs for Village Activity Facilitators and Activity Coordinators in the Schemes.
  • Review and maintain existing policies and processes on volunteering and create new ones

Our ideal Volunteer Coordinator:

Ideally you will have previous experience working in the Volunteering sector and possess excellent communication skills with a strong background in customer service, with a focus on people. Ideally, you will have experience working with individuals who have diverse needs and understand the significance of volunteering for a charity. We would also welcome experience working with Student placements, Students on work experience, Duke of Edinburgh placements and corporate volunteers.

For this position, it's crucial to possess strong organisational skills, communicate effectively in both spoken and written forms, and have a solid grasp of IT, especially with Microsoft Office. Being detail-oriented and ensuring accurate data entry are also vital.

You should be a team player who can foster and maintain positive working relationships, approach challenges with a positive attitude, and communicate honestly and openly within the team. A genuine commitment to promoting equal opportunities in the workplace and in relation to residents and the broader community is also crucial for creating an inclusive environment.
