Volunteer Coffee Shop Assistant

Department: Catering

Location: Northgate Coffee Shop, Teesside Hospice, 1 Northgate Road, Linthorpe, Middlesbrough TS5 5NW

Time Requirement: Flexible to suit you, with particular need Monday to Thursday, 10:30 am - 2:30 pm

DBS Check needed? Yes

Age Requirements: From 16 years old plus

Role Summary: We seek volunteers to assist our newly refurbished Coffee Shop in creating a welcoming environment for customers. This role requires good communication and customer service skills. The coffee shop is busy with visitors and staff, providing opportunities to meet new people, learn valuable skills, and support the hospice.

Required Skills:

• Provide high-quality customer service
• Basic food preparation
• Make tea and coffee
• Keep tables and surrounding areas clean and tidy
• Load and unload a dishwasher
• Operate a till and balance daily takings
• Deliver prompt, courteous service

Expectations:

• Wear ID badge at all times during volunteering
• Adhere to Teesside Hospice policies and procedures
• Work harmoniously with colleagues and other volunteers
• Notify the manager in advance if unable to attend a shift
• Attend any training provided by the hospice
• Complete mandatory online training to ensure safety and compliance with CQC requirements
