Job summary

Vodafone is seeking a Field Engineer for South Wales field-based work. You will install and maintain fixed and mobile networks and Vodafone business solutions, including rooftop tasks and health checks. The role requires SC clearance eligibility and a willingness to travel.

You’ll join a team that values safety, quality, and customer focus, with a 37.5-hour week, Monday to Friday, and a 24/7 callout rotation as needed. This is a physically demanding role in diverse environments.

Qualifications

• Formal telecoms/electronic qualification or equivalent experience.
• Provision of service, fault diagnosis and rectification of relevant telecoms technologies.
• Multi-vendor CPE including Cisco, Juniper and ADVA; core transmission technologies including DWDM and Ethernet.

Responsibilities

• Install and maintain fixed and mobile networks and Vodafone business solutions.
• Regular climbing of Vodafone’s infrastructure and rooftop-based work; perform health assessments.
• Adhere to quality and H&S standards and achieve agreed performance targets.
• Be flexible with working hours and travel as required.
• Participate in a 24/7 callout rota and/or shift pattern.
• This is a physical role with lifting, climbing, standing; indoor/outdoor work.

What you’ll do

Role Purpose

• You will play an integral part of the Vodafone Field Engineering team, performing installation and maintenance activities in support of the fixed and mobile networks as well as Vodafone business solutions.
• Regular climbing of Vodafone’s extensive fixed and mobile infrastructure as well as rooftop-based working is essential. The role holder will be expected to undertake regular health assessments to ensure that all aspects of the role is carried out safely
• Adherence to quality and H&S standards as well as achieving agreed performance targets is essential to this role
• The role holder must have a flexible approach to working hours and be willing to travel if required to meet the demands of the business
• The candidate will be expected to participate in a 24/7 callout rota and / or shift pattern as and when required in alignment with the requirements of the Operating Unit you are assigned to
• The Field Engineering role is a physical one, with the need for manual lifting, climbing stairs, walking and being on your feet for large parts of the day, working in both inside and outside environments

Who you are

Please note, Candidates must hold SC Clearance or be eligible for SC Clearance. To become eligible for SC Clearance candidates must be able to demonstrate residency in the UK for the past 5 years.

• Formal telecoms/electronic qualification or equivalent experience gained through previous roles.
• Provision of service, fault diagnosis and rectification of relevant telecoms technologies. Multi-vendor CPE including Cisco, Juniper and ADVA, Core transmission technologies including DWDM and Ethernet
• Mobile networking technologies 3G/4G/5G and associated equipment
• Microwave Radio
• Switch and Field DC power systems, Fibre and copper cabling and termination
• Ability to work both in a team and on your own efficiently and effectively
• A considerable amount of the role consists of lone working and so the ability to work efficiently, safely and independently is a must
• Ability to work in a focused manner under pressure to meet tight deadlines
• Ability to manage own workload to best meet the demands of the business
• Adaptability and the ability to learn new skills quickly
• PC skills (IT Literacy)
• Valid / full UK / EU driving license (Category B)
• Excellent customer-facing skills
• Ability to achieve and maintain SC clearance status
• Ability to achieve and maintain Advanced Climber / Tower Rescue Certification and passing regular health assessments in accordance with MATS guidance.
