Job summary
St Elizabeth’s College is seeking a Vocational Assessor (Health & Social Care) based in Much Hadham. You will guide learners through their qualification journey, conducting workplace observations, delivering feedback and managing your own caseload.
This role focuses on face-to-face learning, with a Monday–Friday schedule and regular 9–5 hours, at one permanent workplace, helping learners achieve nationally recognised vocational qualifications that improve lives.
Qualifications
- Recognised Assessor qualification (A1, CAVA or equivalent).
- Experience assessing vocational qualifications within Health & Social Care, Residential Childcare or Education.
- Excellent communication and coaching skills.
- Ability to confidently assess workplace competence.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage your own caseload.
- Passion for developing others.
Responsibilities
- Assess knowledge and competence-based qualifications through workplace observations, professional discussions and portfolio evidence.
- Provide supportive, constructive feedback to learners.
- Manage your own learner caseload and plan assessments.
- Monitor learner progress to ensure timely achievement.
- Build positive relationships with managers to support workforce development.
- Maintain accurate assessment records and awarding body compliance.
- Support quality assurance activities.
- Deliver learning sessions where appropriate and with support when needed.

As a Vocational Assessor, you’ll guide learners through their qualification journey, helping them build confidence, competence and professional skills.
- Assessing knowledge and competence‑based qualifications through workplace observations, professional discussions and portfolio evidence.
- Providing supportive, constructive feedback that helps learners develop.
- Managing your own learner caseload and planning assessments effectively.
- Monitoring learner progress to ensure timely achievement.
- Building positive relationships with managers to support workforce development.
- Maintaining accurate assessment records and awarding body compliance.
- Supporting quality assurance activities.
- Delivering learning sessions where appropriate - if this is a new skill for you or something you’ve done before, we’ll support you every step of the way.

- Internal Quality Assurance qualification (or willingness to work towards with employer support)
- Experience within residential childcare, specialist education or learning disability services
- Experience delivering training or facilitating learning
