Job summary
St Elizabeth’s in Hertfordshire is seeking a Vocational Assessor (Health & Social Care) to guide learners through their qualification journey via workplace observations, professional discussions and portfolio evidence.
This role focuses on coaching learners, providing constructive feedback and managing your own caseload while maintaining sight of progress and compliance. It offers a Monday–Friday, 9–5 regime at a single permanent workplace.
Qualifications
- Essential: Recognised Assessor qualification (A1, CAVA or equivalent).
- Experience assessing Vocational qualifications within Health & Social Care, Residential Childcare or Education.
- Excellent communication and coaching skills.
- Ability to confidently assess workplace competence.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage own caseload.
- Passion for developing others.
Responsibilities
- Assess knowledge and competence-based qualifications through workplace observations, professional discussions and portfolio evidence.
- Providing supportive, constructive feedback that helps learners develop.
- Managing your own learner caseload and planning assessments effectively.
- Monitoring learner progress to ensure timely achievement.
- Building positive relationships with managers to support workforce development.
- Maintaining accurate assessment records and awarding body compliance.
- Supporting quality assurance activities.
- Delivering learning sessions where appropriate and with support as needed.

As a Vocational Assessor, you’ll guide learners through their qualification journey, helping them build confidence, competence and professional skills.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Assessing knowledge and competence-based qualifications through workplace observations, professional discussions and portfolio evidence.

- Delivering learning sessions where appropriate - if this is a new skill for you or something you’ve done before, we’ll support you every step of the way.

- Internal Quality Assurance qualification (or willingness to work towards with employer support)
- Experience within residential childcare, specialist education or learning disability services
