Job summary

Hovis Bakeries is seeking a skilled Heavy Goods Vehicle Mechanic to join our Vehicle Maintenance Unit (VMU). The VMU Technician will inspect, service and repair LGVs and trailers to keep our logistics network moving and compliant with safety standards.

You will work a 4 on 4 off, 12-hour shift pattern and collaborate with VMU shift leaders and logistics teams to maximise vehicle availability. LGV qualifications and a valid LGV licence C+E are required, with a focus on quality workmanship and

Responsibilities

• Carry out inspection, servicing, and repairs on LGVs, trailers, and ancillary equipment.
• Ensure work meets VOSA standards and compliance requirements.
• Collaborate with VMU Shift Leaders and logistics teams to maximise vehicle availability.
• Deliver high-quality work efficiently to achieve shift KPIs.
• Follow health, safety, and environmental procedures.
• Diagnose faults and carry out repairs using appropriate tools and resources.
• Support the use of subcontractors to ensure timely and cost-effective maintenance.
• Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
• Provide flexible support across VMU duties when required.
