£16,014.44 per annum plus performance bonus and fantastic benefits

24 hours per week across 3 days (set days open for discussion; some evening/weekend flexibility to assist with events).

Our Visual Merchandiser

Do you have an eye for detail and a passion for storytelling through design? Can you transform everyday products into displays that inspire curiosity and drive sales? At The Newt in Somerset, we’re looking for a creative Visual Merchandiser to bring our retail spaces to life. You’ll ensure a consistent, high-quality standard across our three outlets—crafting displays that not only look beautiful but also encourage discovery and influence buying decisions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Retail Operations, Shop Managers and Product teams on VM decisions
  • Develop and implement weekly VM plans aligned to business objectives
  • Proactively plan for key trading periods (e.g. Christmas) to optimise sales
  • Design and deliver engaging displays that champion new product launches
  • Elevate brand cohesion and standards across all three outlets
  • Use customer-journey insights to drive product discovery and conversion
  • Maintain a high bar for detail, quality and consistency in all presentations
  • Track performance and iterate displays to support commercial goals

Where you'll be working - Our Retail Shops

Our shops are an integral part of The Newt experience, offering our guests, members, and customers a high-end retail experience whether visiting the Estate or The Creamery at Castle Cary station.

The Farm Shop specialises in the sales of our own products, with a particular focus on cyder, cheese, and bakery items. It features a walk-in cheese room with the finest British cheeses, a butchery counter with a Himalayan pink salt wall for meat ageing, and freshly harvested vegetables from our fields.

The House & Garden Shop offers a wide selection of fine living items, ranging from our own scented product range to curated goods sourced from local artisan suppliers, as well as from our partners at Babylonstoren and Vignamaggio.

The Creamery, our newest opening at Castle Cary train station, provides a “best of both worlds” experience, featuring our Farm Shop products complemented by select items from the House & Garden range.
