Job Description:

Widener University is seeking a Visiting Assistant Teaching Professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy. Reporting to the Associate Dean of Science, this role supports undergraduate education at the College of Arts and Sciences.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Teach 4 courses per semester in physics and astronomy, including developing syllabi, learning objectives, assignments, rubrics, examinations, and managing the Canvas course site.
  2. Demonstrate effectiveness in teaching and student assessment; utilize faculty development opportunities and teaching effectiveness tools to improve instruction.
  3. Maintain competency in teaching through supervisor, peer, and student evaluations.
  4. Maintain regular office hours; support students through various communication channels; identify students needing additional assistance.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
  1. Ph.D. in physics, astronomy, or a closely related field. ABD candidates will be considered if the degree is completed by August 2025.
  2. Demonstrated commitment to undergraduate education.
Preferred:
  1. Experience with Python programming.
