Job summary

Education Authority seeks a Teacher for Children and Young People with Vision Impairment to join the regional Sensory Service. The role covers assessment, programme planning, and direct teaching for pupils with vision impairment across Belfast and surrounding areas.

Travel within the region is required, with base at Belvoir Primary School Belfast. The post requires a teaching qualification for Northern Ireland grant-aided schools, experience (min 3 years), and knowledge of assistive technology

Qualifications

• Qualified to teach in grant-aided schools in Northern Ireland.
• Experience of at least three years teaching post-qualification (within last eight years).
• Knowledge of vision impairment implications on development, learning and well-being.
• Access to suitable transport to perform mobility requirements across Education Authority offices.

Responsibilities

• Plan, assess and monitor pupils with vision impairment, enabling educational progress.
• Support families from diagnosis through home and early years settings.
• Collaborate with schools to develop accessible learning environments and inclusion strategies.
• Advise on equipment and assistive technology to promote independence.
• Contribute to professional development for staff on vision impairment
