Prospero Teaching is seeking a Visual Impairment Teaching Assistant to support pupils in Bedford and surrounding areas. You will work with students who have sight loss to help them access lessons and participate in class activities.

The role emphasises adapting resources for individual needs, promoting independence, and collaborating with teachers, SEND staff and specialists. Experience with Braille or specialist technology is beneficial but not essential.

Qualifikationen

• Experience supporting children or adults with visual impairments.
• Experience in school, specialist setting, care role or community-based support.
• Patient, reliable and able to build positive relationships.
• Understanding the importance of encouraging independence.
• Braille knowledge or specialist technology experience would be beneficial but not essential.

Aufgaben

• Supporting pupils with visual impairments on a one-to-one basis or in small groups.
• Helping pupils access lessons and take part in classroom activities.
• Preparing or adapting resources to meet individual needs.
• Supporting the use of enlarged print, accessible technology and other learning aids.
• Helping pupils navigate the school environment and develop confidence.
• Working alongside teachers, SEND staff and specialist professionals.
