Job summary

Xact Placements Limited is seeking a Virtualisation Engineer for a central government project in Nottingham. The role is on-site five days a week, Inside IR35, with a contract running to 31 March 2027 and a likely extension.

You’ll own the virtualisation estate end-to-end, focusing on VMware vSphere/ESXi and Horizon, Windows Server, AD and data centre management, with some BAU support as required. Active SC Clearance is required and start is early July.

Qualifications

• Expert-level VMware - vSphere, ESXi and Horizon VDI.
• Windows Server 2012(R2), 2016 and 2019 experience.
• Active SC Clearance and on-site Nottingham availability.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain the virtualisation estate end-to-end.

Virtualisation Engineer (VMware/vSphere/Horizon) - SC Cleared - Nottingham

(Inside IR35) On site 5 days Contract to 31 March 2027 + likely extension

A central government client is looking for an experienced Virtualisation Engineer to join an established infrastructure team in Nottingham. This is a long-standing programme so it's a genuinely stable, long-term contract with a strong likelihood of extension (6-12 months beyond March 2027).

You’ll be project-focused, building and maintaining the virtualisation estate, with some BAU and technical support as required. You’ll need to be hands-on and confident owning the platform end to end.

Essential

• Expert-level VMware - vSphere, ESXi and Horizon VDI (build, upgrade, management)
• Windows Server 2012(R2), 2016 and 2019
• HPE Servers and data centre management
• Active Directory and core networking
• Comfortable joining an on-call rota (1 week in 4)

Desirable: SCCM, Synergy

Essential - please read:

• Active SC Clearance. We need it current and transferable - unfortunately, recently lapsed clearance won't work for this one.
• Able to work on site in Nottingham 5 days a week.
