Job summary

Evodia Limited in Swindon is seeking a DV-cleared Virtualisation Engineer to design, deploy and manage large-scale VMware VCF platforms. You will implement core components (vSphere, NSX, vSAN), develop IaC solutions using Terraform, PowerCLI and Ansible, and create API-driven automation for provisioning and lifecycle management.

The role requires extensive experience in secure environments, DevOps integration, and strong documentation skills.

Qualifications

• Strong experience with VMware virtualization platforms including vSphere, ESXi and vCenter.
• Hands-on experience with VMware Cloud Foundation and SDDC components (NSX, vSAN, VCF Operations).
• Proficiency with automation tools such as PowerCLI, Terraform, Ansible or SaltStack.
• Experience developing Infrastructure as Code and using APIs for automation.
• Solid understanding of enterprise networking including DNS and load balancing.
• Experience integrating platforms with DevOps toolchains and CI/CD pipelines.
• Excellent technical documentation skills and ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
• Experience in secure or regulated environments with a security-first mindset.
• Desirable: knowledge of Kubernetes on VCF (VKS) or container platforms
• Desirable: understanding of hybrid and multi-cloud environments
• Desirable: experience with GitOps practices
• Desirable: familiarity with disaster recovery and resilience solutions
• Desirable: relevant certifications such as VCP, VCAP, or VMware Cloud Foundation Specialist

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage enterprise virtualization platforms based on VMware VCF.
• Implement core components such as vSphere, NSX, vSAN, and VCF Operations.
• Develop Infrastructure as Code solutions using Terraform, PowerCLI, and Ansible to enable repeatable, automated deployments.
• Create API-driven automation for provisioning and platform lifecycle management.
• Support platform build, upgrade, patching, and scaling while ensuring continuous improvement and stability.
• Integrate virtualization platforms with network services, DNS, identity, and DevOps pipelines.
• Translate architectural designs into automated, deployable solutions aligned to programme standards and security requirements.
• Produce technical documentation including low-level designs, build guides, and runbooks.
• Participate in system integration, testing, operational handovers, and change impact assessments.
• Support ongoing platform optimisation and security hardening

This is a reputable client environment focused on delivering innovative, secure infrastructure solutions within a structured and professional team. The contract runs until 31 March 2027 with scope for extension, and the day rate is up to £650 per day plus VAT inside IR35.
