Job summary

Qualifications

• Experience with VMware vSphere/ESXi/vCenter
• Expertise in VMware Cloud Foundation and SDDC components (NSX, vSAN)
• Automation using PowerCLI, Terraform, Ansible or SaltStack
• IaC and API-driven automation experience
• Understanding of enterprise networking (DNS, load balancing)
• Ability to troubleshoot and communicate clearly in secure environments
• UK SC clearance or eligibility to obtain

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy and manage VMware Cloud Foundation platforms
• Implement VCF components including NSX, vSAN and related operations
• Build Infrastructure as Code for automated deployments
• Create API-driven automation for provisioning and lifecycle management
• Support platform lifecycle activities such as upgrades, patching and scaling
• Integrate virtualization platforms with enterprise services (DNS, identity, DevOps)
• Produce artefacts like LLDs, build guides and runbooks
• Assist with testing and handover, assess change impact and risk
• Improve stability and scalability through automation and standardisation

Job Title: SC Cleared Virtualisation Engineer
Location: London
Duration: 6 months with possible extension
Rate: Up to £750 per day via an approved umbrella company

What you'll be doing:

• Design, deploy and manage VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) virtualisation platforms
• Implement core VCF components including vSphere, NSX, vSAN, VCF Operations, VPC and VKS
• Build Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for automated, consistent platform deployments
• Create API-driven automation for provisioning, configuration and lifecycle management
• Support platform lifecycle activities such as build, upgrades, patching and scaling
• Integrate virtualisation platforms with enterprise services (networking, DNS, identity and DevOps toolchains)
• Produce key technical artefacts including LLDs, build guides and runbooks
• Support integration, testing and operational handover, including change impact assessments and risk identification
• Help improve stability, performance and scalability through continuous automation and standardisation

What you'll bring:

• Strong experience with VMware virtualisation platforms (vSphere, ESXi, vCenter)
• Proven VMware Cloud Foundation / SDDC knowledge (NSX, vSAN, VCF Operations)
• Automation experience using tools such as PowerCLI, Terraform, Ansible or SaltStack
• Experience with IaC and API-driven automation approaches
• Understanding of enterprise networking and underpinning services (e.g. DNS, load balancing)
• Ability to troubleshoot, analyse and communicate clearly with technical teams
• Confidence delivering in secure or regulated environments
• UK Security Clearance (SC) or eligibility to obtain

Additional information:

• Experience with Kubernetes on VCF (VKS) is desirable
• Familiarity with hybrid cloud, GitOps and resilience (backup/DR) is desirable
• Agile delivery and Atlassian tools experience is desirable
