Job summary

Northumberland County Council’s Virtual School is recruiting for a Fixed term part-time Secondary English or Maths teacher to support cared for children requiring additional tuition. The role is 16 hours across 3 days during term time, based at County Hall, Morpeth.

The successful candidate will work 1:1 or in small groups in schools, at home or in community venues, to raise educational outcomes and narrow gaps for children in care. Experience with Personal Education Plans is advantageous.

Qualifications

  • The successful candidate will have experience and confidence working 1:1, in small groups in a range of settings e.g in the home, school and/ or community.

Responsibilities

  • To teach cared for children one to one and in small groups either in schools, community venues or in their homes. Subjects will be English, mathematics and/or Science
  • To narrow the gap between cared for children and peers and improve educational outcomes.
  • Through effective liaison with schools, carers and other agencies, ensure that pupils make good progress and enjoy positive outcomes.
  • To support children while waiting for a school place, or in times of reduced education
  • To contribute to the child's Personal Education Plan (PEP)

Northumberland County Council's Virtual School is recruiting for an enthusiastic, wel l motivated Secondary English or Maths teacher to support cared for children who may need additional tuition .

Northumberland Virtual School are a talented and experiencedmulti-disciplinaryteam who are passionate about ensuring disadvantaged children and young people receive an education which meets their individual needs, to improve their outcomes.

The Virtual School workeffectively withschools, settings and CSCto raise educational standards, promote inclusion andwellbeingandpromote educational outcomes of children andyoung peoplein our care, children with a social worker, those in kinship care and previously cared for. The successful candidate will have experience and confidence working 1:1, in small groups in a range of settings e.g in the home, school and/ or community.
