Job summary

Hampshire County Council is recruiting a Progression Coach to work across the north of Hampshire. You will support young people not in education, employment or training (NEET), those with SEND, or needing help planning next steps, empowering them to overcome barriers and achieve their goals.

Qualifications

  • Level 2 Functional Skills in English and Maths, or equivalent GCSE qualifications.
  • Experience of supporting, coaching or advising young people to achieve personal, educational or career goals.
  • Knowledge of post-16 pathways available to Hampshire youths, and barriers to transitions.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, organisational and digital skills.
  • Genuine commitment to helping young people achieve successful outcomes and progress towards their goals.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of young people, providing tailored information, advice and guidance on education, training and employment pathways.
  • Support young people to overcome barriers, develop action plans and progress towards positive post-16 destinations.
  • Deliver practical career development support, including job searches, applications, CV writing and other employability activities.
  • Work with schools, colleges, employers, training providers and support services to help young people access appropriate opportunities and progress towards their goals.
  • Maintain accurate records, monitor progress and contribute to continuous service improvement.

The Role:

As a Progression Coach, you'll make a real difference to the lives of young people primarily across the north of Hampshire. You'll support young people who are not in education, employment or training (NEET), have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), or need additional help planning their next steps, empowering them to overcome barriers and achieve their goals.

Working as part of Hampshire Futures, you'll build trusted relationships, provide personalised advice and guidance, and help young people access opportunities that lead to positive and sustainable outcomes. This is a rewarding role where your support, encouragement and expertise will help young people build confidence and take meaningful steps towards their future.

What you’ll do:
