Coventry and Warwickshire Pathology Service (CWPS) is a well-established Pathology Network in the South Midlands. The Virology and Molecular Pathology services are based across two main sites: University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust in Coventry and the George Eliot Hospital in Nuneaton.
The department is multi-disciplinary, responsible for infectious disease Serology, Molecular testing, and Genomics testing for Blood Sciences and Cellular Pathology. It operates a 24/7 service.
As Performance Section Manager, you will be the senior Biomedical Scientist overseeing operational processes and staff to meet departmental objectives and KPIs.
Applicants without the required qualification for this band 7 role (MSc, FIBMS, or IBMS Special examination) may be considered as Trainee Pathology Section Manager, employed at band 6 until qualification is achieved.
The department is updating equipment following a new managed service contract, offering opportunities to engage in service transformation. As departmental Performance Lead, you will ensure the safe and effective delivery of these new services.
The ideal candidate will be dynamic, organized, with excellent communication skills, and capable of motivating staff. The role involves managing KPIs, staff performance, data collection, work scheduling, technical performance, quality assurance, equipment maintenance, and compliance with standards.
