An established industry player in healthcare is seeking a dynamic Performance Section Manager to lead a multi-disciplinary team in the Coventry and Warwickshire Pathology Service. Job summary
Coventry and Warwickshire Pathology Service (CWPS) is a well established Pathology Network in the South Midlands. The Virology and Molecular Pathology services are across two main sites; University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust in Coventry and the George Eliot Hospital in Nuneaton.
The department is multi-disciplinary with responsibility for the operational delivery of infectious disease Serology and Molecular testing and Genomics testing for both Blood Sciences and Cellular Pathology. The department operates a 24/7 service.
As Performance Section Manager you will be the senior Biomedical Scientist responsible for monitoring and managing operational processes and staff to ensure delivery against the departments' annual objectives and Key Performance Indicators.
Applicants who do not hold the qualification required for this band 7 post (MSc, FIBMS or IBMS Special examination) may be considered. In this case, the appointee is employed as a Trainee Pathology Section Manager and paid at band 6 until an appropriate qualification is obtained.
Main duties of the jobThe department is in the process of updating equipment following the implementation of a new managed service contract. There is opportunity to engage with this on-going transformation of the service and as departmental Performance Lead, you will be pivotal in ensuring the safe and effective delivery of these new services as part of the Section Manager team.
The successful applicant will be a dynamic, organised individual with excellent communication skills and the ability to motivate staff. There is a requirement to work effectively as part of a departmental and Pathology wide Section Manager team as well as managing individual work streams and deadlines. Key tasks for the role include:
