Job summary

Royal Shakespeare Company seeks a skilled Video Technician (Grade 4) to join the Video department in Stratford-upon-Avon. The role covers setup, operation and maintenance of video systems across productions, reporting to the Head of Video.

Expect 44 hours per week, six days out of seven, with some Sundays included. You will configure media servers, projectors and screens, support projection mapping, and troubleshoot issues to ensure seamless performances.

Qualifications

• Experience in a technical backstage role within theatre, live events or a similar production environment.
• Knowledge of media servers, projectors, show control protocols, rigging practices and fault-finding techniques.
• Strong technical problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• A collaborative and proactive approach, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Enthusiasm for learning and applying emerging video technologies.

Responsibilities

• Support the preparation, fit-up, technical rehearsal, performance and get-out phases of productions.
• Configure, program and maintain media servers, projectors, screens and video networks.
• Support the delivery of projection mapping and video systems across productions.
• Apply 3D modelling and projection mapping software within a live theatre environment.
• Troubleshoot and fault-find technical issues to ensure smooth operation of video systems.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues across technical and production departments to deliver exceptional theatre experiences.
