Job summary

The Sun in London is seeking a Video Apprentice to join its fast-paced digital storytelling team. You will support daily video editing and production across entertainment, news and sport, crafting content for YouTube, TikTok and Facebook, working with senior editors and producers from concept to post-production.

You will study toward a fully funded NCTJ Diploma in Journalism while earning above the living wage, four days per week with one study day, in a supportive environment with mentorship.

Qualifications

• Creative flair for storytelling through video and digital media.
• Strong understanding of social media platforms (TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook).
• Familiarity with video software such as Adobe Premiere Pro or After Effects.
• Clear communication and collaboration with producers, editors, journalists and talent.
• Willingness to learn and gain real-world industry skills in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Edit clips and build video editing skills in Premiere Pro.
• Research guests and prepare simple background info sheets.
• Pitch creative ideas in team brainstorms.
• Support on shoot days: set up gear, props and keep filming running smoothly.
• Spot viral moments to create episode summaries and social assets for TikTok, Instagram, YouTube.
• Assist with shoot logistics: travel, accommodation, catering and crew needs.
• Handle team admin: notes, guest releases, call sheets, invoices.
• Organise media files for easy access by editors.
