Job description

Veterinary Surgeon - Small Animal

Kingston Vets - Sherborne, Dorset

Salary up to £65,000 FTE DOE plus relocation allowance up to £5,000 and welcome bonus up to £3,000

At inspiring vet care, our people are at the heart of everything we do. As the UK’s number one vet care provider, we're trusted with the care of over 2 million animals, delivering our purpose of healthier animals and happier owners.

Kingston Vets, part of ivc, have been part of the local community for over 100 years and continue to grow as a trusted, forward-thinking practice. We’re now looking for a Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly and experienced team.

A Varied Caseload With True Case Ownership

You’ll see a lovely mix of cats, dogs, rabbits and small furries, with a real focus on continuity of care and working cases up to a high standard. The role offers a great balance of consultations and surgery, with plenty of routine procedures alongside orthopaedics, dentistry and a variety of other interesting cases.

Two Practices, One Great Team

You’ll work across our two purpose-built practices in Yeovil and Sherborne, with access to excellent facilities including dental suites with dental X-ray, digital radiography, ultrasound and laparoscopic equipment. We also have separate cat and dog wards and isolation facilities, and are proud to hold Silver ISFM status, reflecting our commitment to feline-friendly care.

A Team That Supports You

You’ll be joining a friendly team of six vets, six RVNs and two SVNs, alongside a dedicated Client Care Team. We also have a visiting orthopaedic specialist, giving you great support with more complex cases and plenty of opportunity to learn from others.

If there’s an area you’d like to develop or you’re considering a certificate, we’re very happy to support your ambitions and help you build your career around your interests.

A Work-Life Balance That Works

We’re ideally looking for a full-time vet working 40 hours across four days, including just 1:3 Saturday mornings (8:30am-12:30pm) which will be sole charge.

There are no out-of-hours or on-call requirements, and part-time applications are also welcomed.

Life in Yeovil & Sherborne

With beautiful countryside, historic market towns and plenty of opportunities to get outdoors, the area offers a lovely balance between rural living and everyday convenience. Sherborne brings character, independent shops and stunning historic surroundings, while Yeovil offers great amenities and transport links.
