Job summary

The Woodley Vet, part of inspiring vet care, in Reading, is seeking a Veterinary Surgeon to join a collaborative team. You will deliver high-quality patient and client care across a varied caseload while developing clinical interests and sharing knowledge with colleagues.

You will contribute to a supportive culture with strong teamwork, ongoing development, and a focus on compassionate care for animals and owners.

Qualifications

  • A Veterinary degree and registration with the RCVS.
  • Experience in clinical practice with growing confidence in routine medical and surgical cases.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships with clients and colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • First-opinion consultations and preventative healthcare.
  • Clinical examinations, diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Routine and emergency medical cases.
  • Soft-tissue and routine surgical procedures.
  • Inpatient care.
  • Diagnostic imaging and laboratory work.
  • Client communication and continuity of care.
  • Working collaboratively with the wider veterinary team.

Practice Highlights

You'll be joining a supportive team of 2 FTE Veterinary Surgeons, two RVNs, one SVN, two Receptionist/Animal Nursing Assistants, and an experienced Practice Manager.

How You’ll Make a Difference

As a Veterinary Surgeon, you’ll work collaboratively with the wider practice team to deliver a high standard of patient and client care across a varied and rewarding caseload.

You’ll continue to develop your clinical skills and interests while sharing your knowledge and experience with colleagues, contributing positively to the clinical culture of the practice. You’ll be an integral member of the clinical team, delivering excellent care and supporting the ongoing development of those around you.

Key Responsibilities

The role offers a varied caseload across consultations, diagnostics, medical work-ups and soft-tissue surgery, with opportunities to develop your clinical interests and skills.

Shift patterns varying from 08.00-19.30, and one Saturday a month 08.30-12.30 on a rotating basis.
