Salary up to £75,000 DOE, up to £7,500 relocation allowance and up to £5,000 welcome bonus
Are you a veterinary surgeon looking for a role that offers variety, professional growth, and a genuinely welcoming team? At Chapelfield Vets, our Wymondham branch provides an exciting opportunity to work within a modern, well-equipped facility while being part of a compassionate and skilled group of professionals.
A Practice Where You Can Thrive
We're proud to be part of a five-branch group that includes locations in Norwich, Long Stratton, Wymondham, Costessey, and Brooke. Each branch works closely together, sharing knowledge and resources to provide the highest standards of care. Our practices are equipped with digital radiography and modern ultrasound with Doppler, and we have a strong focus on dentistry, with dental radiography already in place at Long Stratton and new IM3 dental X-ray machines being introduced at Wymondham.
The Wymondham site is spacious, bright, and purpose-built to support both patient care and staff wellbeing. The front-of-house features a welcoming reception with separate dog and cat waiting areas to help reduce stress for visiting pets. The clinical area includes three large consulting rooms, with plans for a fourth, a dedicated prep area with stations designed for efficiency, an imaging suite, a dental station, and two fully equipped theatres with multiparameter monitors. The branch also includes separate dog kennels and a calm, dedicated cattery space, which we are working to have accredited under ISFM standards.
For diagnostics, our in-house laboratory includes IDEXX haematology and biochemistry analysers, a urine analyser, and a microscope that's regularly used for blood smears, cytology, and fine needle aspirates. For more advanced diagnostics, we work with IDEXX for quick and accessible reporting. Staff facilities upstairs include a well-equipped kitchen, comfy breakout spaces with sofas, and a quiet clinical office that supports focused work and downtime.
Discover a diversity of caseload and experience
In terms of caseload, Wymondham offers real variety. While we mainly treat dogs and cats, we also see a wide range of small furries such as rabbits, guinea pigs, ferrets, rodents, and birds, and we have plans to expand our exotic services. You will primarily be involved in consultations, with approximately a quarter of your time dedicated to surgical procedures. Our team regularly performs neutering for both domestic and exotic species, along with more complex surgeries including mass removals, dentals, laparotomies, orthopaedics, BOAS, and TECA. Most cases are managed in-house, with only the most advanced imaging or highly specialised procedures referred externally.
Discover a Supportive Workplace
You will be part of a wider team across all branches, which includes 19 small animal vets, 21 registered veterinary nurses, four veterinary care assistants, and a dedicated reception team. Among our veterinary team, we have certificate holders in dermatology, ophthalmology, orthopaedics, and others currently pursuing further qualifications in imaging and feline medicine. We're also proud to support professional development for all team members, including nurses, with one of our Head Nurses currently undertaking a certificate in anaesthesia. Our commitment to clinical excellence is reflected not just in our equipment and facilities, but in our dedication to continuous learning and teamwork.
While this role is primarily based at our Wymondham branch, we are happy to offer flexibility for those who would like to work across other branches. There may also be occasional cover needed at other sites to support colleagues.
We are proud of the close connections we maintain with our local community and the charities we support. Our team works closely with Dogs Trust, regularly visiting their sites and hosting a weekly operating day in practice. We also provide support to welfare organisations such as Cats Protection League and Venture Farm.
