Job Description

Veterinary Surgeon – Orthopaedics That Make an Impact. Looking to sink your teeth into a role where orthopaedics take centre stage? You’re in the right place. We’re looking for a vet with a special interest in orthopaedics – whether you’re certificate-holding or have plenty of practical experience under your belt. This role isn’t just about keeping things ticking over. You’ll be stepping into a service that’s already thriving and helping take it to the next level.

The caseload is varied and engaging – think cruciate repairs (TPLO/CCWO ideally, though we’re happy to support you if TTA is more your thing), patella luxations, and everything from straightforward to complex fractures. If you love surgery and want to keep developing, you’ll be right at home.

What’s on offer:
  1. A full-time role across four days (three surgical, one consulting)
  2. Part-time options available – we’re flexible and happy to chat
  3. A supportive clinical team and a modern, well-equipped surgical setup
  4. Nurse-led overnight care so your post-op patients are monitored while you get a proper night’s sleep
Why this role stands out:

This is more than just a job – it’s a chance to help shape a service with real purpose. We’re part of a not-for-profit veterinary group with a strong social mission, and we’ve recently been awarded B Corp status – putting us among the few in the veterinary world to hold that accreditation. We believe that no pet should go untreated simply because their owner can’t afford care. Free consults and fair pricing are just the start – we break down the barriers so our vets can do what they do best: help animals.

You don’t have to know it all: If you’re passionate about orthopaedics but still developing in certain areas, that’s okay. We’ll provide the support and training to help you grow into the role with confidence.

Your week at a glance:
  1. 4-day week (40 hours)
  2. Hours: 8am–7pm
  3. No weekends, no bank holidays
  4. On-call rota only for inpatient care – no out-of-hours emergencies
Benefits that go beyond the basics:
  1. Competitive salary from £65,000
  2. 6 weeks’ holiday (including bank holidays)
  3. Visa sponsorship available
  4. Funded CPD – UK & international – up to certificate level
  5. Private healthcare & enhanced sick pay
  6. Employee Assistance Programme
  7. Enhanced maternity/paternity packages
  8. RCVS & VDS fees covered
  9. Counselling and financial/life support (after 12 months)
  10. Cycle to Work scheme & E-Car options
  11. Refer-a-Friend bonus

If you’re looking for a role where your surgical skills matter – and where you can actually make a difference – we’d love to hear from you.
