Job description

Pride Veterinary Referrals is excited to announce a new opening for Out of Hours (OOH) Veterinary Surgeons with a passion for Emergency & Critical Care to join their team on a 12-month FTC.

Role Overview
  1. Work on a 3-week rota schedule as an overnight vet caring for Referral patients.
  2. Collaborate with night nurses, veterinary care assistants, and the first opinion night vet.
  3. Follow treatment plans from the Specialist Case Clinician and consult the On Call Clinician as needed.
  4. Serve as the point of contact for referring vets seeking out-of-hours referrals and admit cases arriving OOH.
  5. Communicate clearly during handovers and update the day teams on patient status.
  6. Develop your knowledge by working with Specialist Diplomat led teams, with some flexibility on specialities and shift preferences.
Facilities & Location

Our state-of-the-art hospital includes consultation rooms, hospital wards, theatres, advanced imaging (CT, MRI), ultrasound rooms, interventional radiology, endoscopy, hydrotherapy, and chemotherapy facilities. Located on Derby's edge, with excellent transport links and proximity to the Peak District, we also collaborate with the University of Nottingham.

Work Schedule & Support

Our out-of-hours teams are supported by experienced nurses and care assistants on a 7-night on, 14-night off schedule, with flexible arrangements available for suitable candidates.

Candidate Profile

Previous OOH or rotating internship experience is advantageous but not essential. We seek individuals who thrive in a fast-paced, challenging, yet supportive environment focused on first-class patient care.
