Veterinary Surgeon – Derbyshire

  • Well-equipped small animal practice located in a stunning spa town in Derbyshire with all the tools you would expect, including ECG, ultrasound, an in-house lab, and even acupuncture
  • No weekend work
  • Fantastic salary up to £60,000 (pro-rata)

Are you an experienced Veterinary Surgeon looking for your next adventure? Our client, based in the beautiful spa town of Buxton—famous for its thermal waters and nestled on the western edge of the stunning Peak District—is searching for a dedicated professional to join their close-knit family.

This small animal practice has built a loyal and friendly client base who truly value the personal, compassionate service offered. You'll be joining a team that includes another experienced Vet, a skilled Nurse, and a supportive crew committed to delivering the highest standards of care. The practice also benefits from being part of a partnership with a second site located just 25 minutes away, with the role involving 1 to 2 days per week at this sister location.

Some sole charge will be part of the role, so confidence in your abilities is key, but you will never be far from support—whether over the phone or in person when working as part of the wider team. The practice is well-equipped with all the tools you would expect, including ECG, ultrasound, an in-house lab, and even acupuncture, allowing you to work up cases to an excellent standard.

This is a part-time position, offering a 4-day work week from 9:00 to 17:00, with no weekend commitments. Very occasionally, weekend cover may be requested, but it’s far from the norm.

Living and working in Buxton means enjoying a vibrant town life filled with spas, music, performing arts, markets, and more—set against the breathtaking backdrop of rolling countryside. With excellent travel links to Manchester, you really get the best of both worlds.

If you're ready to take a fulfilling step forward in your career while enjoying the beauty and culture of the Peak District, we’d love to hear from you. Apply today and become part of something special.

The Package:

  • A superb salary of £40,000 - £60,000 DOE (pro-rata)
  • Private Medical Insurance
  • Health cash plan (covering dental, physio and optical services) with 24/7 Private GP Service
  • Life Assurance 3 x salary
  • Access to 24-hour counselling by phone or in person should you feel you need support
  • 5 weeks' annual leave plus Bank Holidays, rising to 6 weeks with length of service
  • An additional ‘Day for You’, a paid day’s leave for you to use as you wish
  • Clinical CPD: £1,500 per year plus 3 days’ paid leave
  • Internal CPD
  • Funded certificate opportunities
  • VDS, RCVS and BVA fees paid
  • Sabbatical based on length of service
  • Cycle to Work scheme
  • Staff discount
  • Support for Certificates of Sponsorship for a Tier 2 (General) Visa and relocation support
