Purosearch is seeking an experienced Out of Hours Veterinary Surgeon for our Cardiff emergency hospital. This part-time, permanent position offers a structured schedule with 33.41 hours per week on-site, and a salary that reflects pro rata inclusion of allowances.

Working as an Out of Hours Veterinary Surgeon, the successful candidate will manage a varied caseload of urgent and critical patients, making confident clinical decisions in a busy emergency hospital setting.

The role offers the opportunity to use a broad range of clinical skills, including emergency and critical care, ultrasound, radiography and multiparameter monitoring. A pragmatic, welfare-focused approach is essential, alongside the ability to communicate effectively with clients during what can often be stressful circumstances.

What They're Looking For

• The ideal Out of Hours Veterinary Surgeon will:
• Be MRCVS registered with experience in emergency veterinary care.
• Have experience managing emergency and critical care cases independently.

The Rota

The role averages 33.41 hours per week and follows a highly structured pattern:

• Week 1: Monday-Sunday, 19:45-08:15 - awake OOH shifts
• Week 2: Off
• Week 3: Off

This provides a significant amount of time away from work while offering the opportunity to develop and use specialist emergency and critical care skills.
